At Mojo Power, we don’t own fossil fuel energy generation. We’re working toward being net renewable by 2024 and it’s our goal to make renewable energy accessible to more Australians too.
Now, we’ve teamed up with GreenPower so you can buy renewable energy with no greenhouse gas emissions.
What is GreenPower?
GreenPower is a government-managed program that lets you support renewable energy generation. When you buy GreenPower, you’re purchasing renewable energy that meets GreenPower’s strict criteria.
Since all electricity goes into the grid to be used, we can’t directly feed the electricity from a renewable generator into your home or workplace. Instead, it’s added to the grid on your behalf.
So with 100% GreenPower, every kWh of electricity you use is matched with a kWh of renewable energy and added to the grid.
The more people who choose GreenPower, the more energy from renewable sources goes into the grid.
So you can do your bit for the environment and be sure the renewable energy you purchase comes from genuine renewable sources.
Why buy GreenPower?
Cut your greenhouse gas emissions
Take climate action at home and in your workplace
Help drive demand for greener energy
Develop the renewable energy sector

Frequently asked questions
We designed Evergreen with the option to go 25%, 50% or 100% GreenPower so you can choose the option that best suits your budget and goals.
When you choose 100% GreenPower, all of the electricity you use will be matched with new renewable energy generation. This is the best way to have the biggest impact and, for residential customers as at October 2021, it only costs 2.2 cents per kWh more than our non-GreenPower energy plan All Day Breakfast.
50% or 25% GreenPower is a good option for people who want to do their bit to reduce their carbon footprint but who may not be able to afford the extra 2.2 cents per kWh (on top of our base rates).
If you choose 50%, half of your electricity usage will be offset with renewable energy and you’ll pay half of the 2.2 cents. If you choose 25%, a quarter of your electricity usage will be offset with renewable energy and you’ll pay a quarter of the 2.2 cents.
Did you know electricity generation is the largest single source of emissions in Australia? So buying renewable energy is one of the simplest, most effective ways to take real climate action at home or through your business.
GreenPower is renewable energy that has no greenhouse gas emissions.
By purchasing GreenPower, you can:
- Cut your greenhouse gas emissions
- Reduce your contribution to climate change
- Help drive demand for greener energy
- Develop the renewable energy sector, helping it replace non-renewable and polluting coal and gas-based generation
- Support jobs in renewable energy in regional Australia.
With 100% GreenPower, every kWh of electricity you use is matched with a kWh of renewable energy and added to the grid on your behalf.
So you can do your bit for the environment and be sure the renewable energy you purchase is the real deal – the government-managed GreenPower program independently audits us to make sure it meets their strict criteria.
When you purchase GreenPower, the renewable energy isn’t delivered directly to your home. Instead, it’s added to the electricity grid on your behalf.
This is because, no matter which power company you’re with, the electricity you buy comes from the same central pool. For most of Australia – everywhere except the Northern Territory and Western Australia – this is the National Electricity Market (NEM).
The NEM is made up of electricity from a range of sources, some renewable (such as solar, wind and hydro) but mostly non-renewable (such as coal and gas). It’s not possible to control which electrons (renewable or non-renewable) are delivered to your home so, unless you have solar panels on your roof, you can’t choose to use renewable electricity over other forms of generation. It’s all mixed in together.
That’s why, when you buy GreenPower, the equivalent amount to your usage is added to the grid on your behalf. The more people choose GreenPower, the more energy from renewable sources goes into the grid.
When you buy carbon neutral electricity, your power company will offset the carbon associated with your electricity use with carbon offsets.
The problem with carbon neutral energy is that not all carbon credits are made equal.
Companies can buy carbon credits from legitimate schemes in Australia that are working to quantifiably and permanently reduce carbon emissions. However they can also buy cheap offshore carbon credits for a fraction of the cost that don’t directly help Australia achieve their renewable targets or that prop up projects such as retrofitting diesel power plants.
