At Mojo Power, it’s our mission to facilitate Australia’s transition to renewable energy and we’re working toward being net renewable as early as the end of 2022.

Being net renewable means we’ll match all of our customers’ electricity usage with renewable energy we purchased directly from solar farms across Australia.

We do this through power purchase agreements.

What is a power purchase agreement?

A power purchase agreement (PPA) is a contract between an electricity generator and an electricity purchaser (that’s us) in which the purchaser agrees to buy electricity directly from the generator for a set price over a set period of time.

Often, especially in the case of new renewable generation, this agreement guarantees the generator funding to build the new project.

It’s through PPAs like these that many solar and wind farms, for example, are able to receive the investment needed to get off the ground.

Which solar farms do we support?

Our group* has contracted many PPAs over the years. Selected examples of operational PPA’s and under construction due to be complete by the end of 2022 are below.

By the time these solar farms are up and running, our group will be buying so much renewable energy that it will cover all of Mojo’s customers’ electricity usage. This means we’ll be “net renewable” – our group will be putting more renewable energy into the electricity grid than our customers are using.
